Product Information

A very high fat, low carbohydrate, nutritionally complete powdered feed. A 4:1 ratio of fat to carbohydrate and protein, with added long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs), Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Arachidonic Acid (AA) and fibre. Available in Unflavoured and Vanilla.

The standard dilution is 14.2% w/v i.e. 14.2g powder and 86ml of water to give a final volume of 100ml. It is recommended to prepare KetoCal with hot water (45-50°C) to ensure the powder completely dissolves.

For oral feeding, KetoCal is best served chilled. For tube feeding, it is recommended that the feeding tube is flushed with warm water (approximately 37°C) between each feed. Keep prepared KetoCal in the refrigerator and use within 24 hours.

Storage

    Store can in a cool, dry place.
    Always replace the container lid after use.
    Once can is opened, use within one month.

Indications

    For the dietary management of drug resistant epilepsy and other conditions where the ketogenic diet is indicated, e.g. disorders of carbohydrate metabolism, such as pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency and glucose transporter type-1 deficiency.
    Can be used to administer the classical long-chain triglyceride (LCT) ketogenic diet (4:1). Can be used to provide complete nutritional support or supplementary feeding from 1-10 years of age. May be used for supplementary feeding over the age of 10 years.

 

Must be used under medical supervision. For enteral use only.

The recommended feed dilution is 14.2% w/v (i.e. 14.2g KetoCal 4:1 Powder plus 86ml water to give a final volume of 100ml)*. For sip and tube feeding:

    Measure the required amount of warm water into a container that seals with a screw top lid. KetoCal 4:1 Powder must be made up with hot water (45-50°C or 113-122°F) to fully dissolve.
    Measure the temperature using a thermometer or mix freshly boiled water and cold tap water in a 1:1 ratio to achieve this temperature. Add the prescribed amount of KetoCal 4:1 Powder to the water.
    Whisk or shake vigorously until the powder is completely dissolved. Remove the lid carefully.
    Chill in a refrigerator if desired and use within 24 hours of preparation. Stir before use.
    On standing, some settling of KetoCal 4:1 Powder may occur which is a normal feature of the product. This settling should not block an enteral tube, however it is recommended that the tube is flushed with water between each feed.
    If given orally, best served chilled.
    To ensure that this high fat feed is tolerated when first introducing a ketogenic diet, a less concentrated feed or lower feed volume may need to be provided initially.
    *A more concentrated dilution may be medically prescribed based on individual requirements.

What if my order hasn't arrived in the estimated time?

Rest assured, we are doing our best to send out orders as fast as we can! Please note that our shipping guidelines are based on the estimated time of arrival from the dispatch date, not the date your order is placed.

Please be advised that our delivery time guidelines are based on business days, which only include Monday - Friday and excludes public holidays.

 

If you believe your order is outside the specified time range of delivery, and you are having your parcel delivered to a business address, please check the mail room or reception for your parcel.

If your parcel is being delivered to a home address and you have left delivery instructions, please check around your property (such as the meter box, carport etc) for somewhere safe the delivery driver may have left your parcel.

Ways to ensure you don't miss your delivery:

 

Our deliveries with our third-party courier partners are delivered with safe drop, meaning your parcel will be left in a secure place around your property if no one is home. If there is nowhere safe to leave your parcel, please email our Customer Service at Orders@bettervaluepharmacy.com.au.

 

If you are having your parcel delivered to a work address, please ensure you include your business name, and please ensure your mobile number is in the delivery comments or on your customer account, so we can contact you if necessary.

 

What happens if an item I ordered was out of stock or has ships by a certain date?

 

If one of the items you've ordered is out of stock or has ships by a certain date, your order will be placed on hold until the available item comes back into stock.

 

This will be reflected on your confirmation email, as your dispatch date will be delayed.

Are leakages considered damaged items?

Minor leakage from creams, lotions, tins, or bottles can occur in transit. As manufacturers do not design these products specifically for parcel shipping, this is not considered a claimable fault.

What if I miss a delivery?

If you are not home and no safe place is available, the courier will send your parcel to the nearest collection point (newsagent, general store, or Australia Post outlet). Redelivery is not always available.

What if my parcel is missing after being scanned as delivered?

We will lodge an investigation with the courier, who generally responds within 7 business days. If the courier confirms the loss is their fault, we will resend your parcel.

What if I gave an incomplete address or my parcel was returned to sender?

If your order is returned due to an incorrect address or because it wasn’t collected in time, and you no longer want it, we will dispose of the goods with no refund. We do not accept change-of-mind returns.

If you want the parcel resent, you will be charged a Return to Sender fee plus new shipping costs.

We may not be able to ship some items to locations outside of Australia and reserve the right to cancel and refund any order to be shipped outside of Australia. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

If the package is not collected, rejected at the border, returned to sender or fees and duties are not paid by you, and as a result, you do not receive your goods, you will not be entitled to any refund for the goods or the postage and handling fees.
